Are you tired of a mushy and lackluster typing experience with your keyboard? Do you want to elevate your performance in gaming but are held back by money?
If so, the budget MG68 mechanical keyboard by MageGee is your best bet for overcoming the barriers and boundaries mushy membrane keyboards provide as it was for me.
Being a geek when it comes to keyboards and typing, I have never been more astounded by a keyboard as cheap as this. While the best of mechanical keyboards cost upwards of $200, this keyboard provides a similar typing experience with its fluidity, aesthetics, and customisation for just $40.
That is one-fifth of the price for a keyboard that serves all your needs!
I have used this keyboard for over a year and a half now, and its quality has not diminished from when it was bought. I use it for all my computer-related needs whether it is for work, gaming, or writing my hundreds of blogs.
Device Specifications
Layout
The keyboard features a 60% compact QWERTY layout. This removes the redundant keys that waste space on your desk, and allows for increased portability.
Design & Aesthetics
On Amazon, MageGee offers 10 different designs for this keyboard to choose from, and 2 choices for switches; either red or blue. These options allow for you to tailor your keyboard to your tastes, and all designs feature robust cost-efficient products. For this reason, the case is made of plastic which is a bummer for its clicking sound quality, but features double kickstand feet for suiting your ergonomics.
Switches
How your mechanical keyboard sounds and feels to type on heavily depends on whether you prefer red or blue switches. They are also what separates mechanical keyboards from the common and mushy membrane ones.
For more information, read this article on mechanical switches and which best suit your tastes. Personally, I prefer red switches due to the quietness and lower actuation force they provide as I type, allowing me to feel at ease as I type and work.
What makes this keyboard better than other budget keyboards?
After having reviewed dozens of budget mechanical keyboards over the years, I can say this is amongst the best of budget keyboards from its fast, fluid, and flowing typing experience that is not found with others. With this keyboard, I consistently type above 150 words per minute, a very rapid pace.
While typing, my hands flow with the soft keys that are as light as a feather, and the sounds it produces are music to my ears; whatever I am writing feels far more grand and this allows for that extra bit of productivity as I feel more inclined to type with it.
When playing first-person-shooter games and rhythm games, the keys click astoundingly with my dexterity and I am able to move from key-to-key with very little delay and discomfort.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this keyboard is pioneering technology for budget mechanical keyboards. It takes the strengths of every keyboard we have reviewed so far and combines them all together to form the ultimate budget keyboard. I personally really like this keyboard and it is my go-to for all my needs.
